Transition Shetland

Public Meeting - Tingwall Hall

A public meeting will be held this week and anyone who is interested in taking the Tingwall glasshouse project forward is invited to come.   You may want to do some growing there;  you may just want to see something positive happening in this wasted building. The meeting is at the Tingwall Hall on Wednesday 26th March at 7 pm.

If it is not used there is no doubt the glasshouse will deteriorate to a point where it is no longer usable.  It could be a great resource for the central mainland of Shetland.  We all know how difficult it is to grow a variety of food in the Shetland climate.   Polytunnels and polycrubs have transformed many keen gardeners' abilities to grow their own food.  If you are not in a position to have your own polytunnel this is an ideal opportunity to get started on some fruit and vegetable growing.
